KUMKUM manufacturing was started by Sri Y V Seshachalam in a humble way in Chennai in the year 1945 under the name of Y V Seshachalam & Co.

Sri Y V Seshachalam faced a stiff competition to sell his good quality product from unorganized sector that were penetrating deep into the market with inferior quality Kumkum at cheaper prices. Soon Sri Seshachalam realized that a brand name has to be created for the supply of quality kumkum and thus emerged the Brand Name “GOPURAM” in the year 1950 and registered under “Trade Mark and Registration Act”.

As the years passed by, Sri Y V Seshachalam worked hard and advertised the product all over Tamilnadu to reach nook & corner of the State to make Gopuram Kumkum a household name.

Sri Y V Seshachalam also started to expand into Karnataka by opening a Branch in Bangalore (now Bengaluru).

As the years passed by, Sri Y V Harikrishna, his eldest son joined the business in the year 1966 on a part time basis while studying. After his graduation in 1972, he joined the business in Full Time in 1972.

Sri Y V Harikrishna, a great Visionary, showed a lot of zeal and interest in the business. Because of his innovative ideas, new shops at Audiappa Street at George Town area in Chennai were opened in the year 1998.

To meet the ever growing market demand, Sri Y V Harikrishna had expanded & built new factory under the name of “YVS Kumkum Company” with new machinery to manufacture Kumkum at a suburb of Chennai in the year 1998.

Third Generation from the family Sri Y V Niranjan Krishna, an enterprising young MBA Graduate from Cardiff University, UK, has also joined the business in the year 2007. He has further expanded the factories for production and meeting the demand. During the year 2012, Sri Y V Harikrishna entered into the related business of Pooja Products.

Considering the requirement for quality Pooja Products, he has floated a new Firm “Y.V.S. Gopuram Pooja Stores”, which is an extended arm of the Parent Company.

Under the able guidance of Sri Y V Harikrishna and Sri Y V Niranjan Krishna, the Company has been  gowing year after year and is having branches in Bengaluru and Vijayawada & a wide network of dealers across the Country.
